Introduction to Hospitality

Preparing and serving espresso coffee are essential skills for a career in the hospitality industry.

This course will cover the skills and knowledge required to extract and serve coffee, including how to operate a coffee machine and make different types of coffees such as cafe latte, cappuccino etc.

The course is delivered over seven weeks with the option of adding an assessment day to gain the following vocational education and training (VET) units:

  • SITXFSA001 Use hygienic practices for food safety: This unit is required by Australian law for all staff handling food
  • SITHFAB005 Prepare and serve espresso coffee

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements although it is expected that students will have basic literacy and numeracy skills, moderate computer, internet and email skills.
