Djerriwarrh Community & Education Services (Djerriwarrh) is a highly regarded not-for-profit charitable organisation which has been delivering high quality education, training, employment and youth programs in the western suburbs of Melbourne since 1989. The Adult Community and Further Education (ACFE) program is the vehicle through which Learn Local organisations in Victoria are contracted to deliver government subsidised pre-accredited training services to eligible individuals.
ACFE courses are subsidised through the Adult Community and Further Education Board (eligibility criteria apply). Participants self-refer to ACFE courses and/or may be referred to a course by Djerriwarrh youth and employment programs, DHS, Centrelink, jobactive providers and Disability Employment Services (DES) providers.
The program is learner centered and seeks to improve participants’ skills to enable them to pathway into vocational training and/or employment.
Intended target groups include adults who have experienced barriers to education in the past, early school leavers, indigenous people, low skilled and vulnerable workers, unemployed/under employed people, people from a culturally or linguistically diverse background, people with a disability and young people who may be or are already disengaged from the community and/or education.
Djerriwarrh delivers ACFE courses in Adult, Literacy and Numeracy, Vocational and Employment Skills.
The Pre-accredited Trainer for Civil Construction is responsible for the delivery, assessment and continued program development of this Employability Skills Course.
ACFE Trainers participate in team meetings, moderation sessions, professional development and internal/external audits as required.
