Workshops & groups

Djerriwarrh offers a range of services, programs and free groups for socialisation, and to help connect our local community and enhance well-being and build friendships.

Each term we host a wide range of social groups, workshops and events covering many different subjects, interests and skill levels.

We also offer a school holiday program at the end of each term.

TERM 2 WORKSHOPS 2026

Taste of Thai – Green Curry cooking class

Learn how to make a delicious Thai Green Curry, from a local Thai cook, using fresh ingredients. This is a hands-on workshop, although you can just observe if you prefer, open to all abilities.

Calligraphy

Join our 6-week Calligraphy Course — perfect for beginners and enthusiasts alike. Your course fee includes a complete Calligraphy Kit with nibs, a pen holder, and ink, so you’ll have everything you need to get started.

Growing from Kitchen Scraps

Did you know you can grow a need spring onion from the base of an old one? Or potatoes from potato peelings? And other plants from those old yucky veggies at the bottom of your fridge? Join us in person at Djerriwarrh Neighbourhood House for a fun and hands-on School Holiday Workshop to learn how to grow veggies from scraps.

DIY Bookmarks

Get creative and design your very own personalised bookmarks! Kids can decorate, collage, and craft unique designs to take home and use in their favourite books. All materials supplied — just bring your imagination!

Acrylic Pour – Easter themed!

Join us for a colourful Easter-themed Acrylic Pour Art workshop designed especially for kids! Children will explore paint-pouring techniques, create their own vibrant Easter artwork. Perfect for ages 6 years and older. Please wear old clothes or bring an art smock — things might get a little messy!

New Carer’s Group: Parents of children with disability or neuro-diversity

Run in partnership with Holstep Health’s Carers Gateway program. More information coming soon.

Punjabi Language Club for Kids

A fun and interactive workshop where children learn basic Punjabi through games, songs, and conversation. A great way to build language skills and cultural connection in a relaxed, supportive environment. Open to children aged 5 and over.

“Bhangra” - Punjabi dance classes for Kids

Get moving and have fun with Bhangra, a vibrant Punjabi folk dance full of energy and culture. This free workshop is open to children aged 5 and over and runs every Monday at the Neighbourhood House. No experience needed—just bring your enthusiasm!

Meet & Mingle

Two hours of laughter, connection, and play designed to uplift your mind, body, and spirit.

Monthly Carer’s Morning Tea

Carers in Melton are invited to a monthly morning tea, to connect and feel supported by other carers. This monthly event is intended for carers to take some time out for themselves, and to attend without the person they care for.

Looking for a friendly spot to chat and connect? The Chatty Café group, held at The Latin in Wallace Square, Melton – is open to all residents that may be looking for someone to share a coffee with. The Chatty Café is a great way to meet new people and be around others from your local area. Val, our lead volunteer, helps everyone feel welcome and included. Come in and have chat with a Neighbour.

GOOD THYMES GARDENING GROUP

Build new friendships and join us for plenty of laughs, as we share seeds, produce and new skills we have learnt along the way. We use the principal methods of both organic and sustainable gardening practices and have established a vegetable wicking bed system. We are a group that thrives on exchanged information, and welcome beginners and established gardeners who like to get their hands dirty.

Women’s Support Group

The Women’s Support Group provides a mental health support program for local women of all ages. It is a space where women can come together to share their experiences, offer mutual support, and foster personal growth

MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS SUPPORT GROUP

A newly established peer support group for people, family and carers affected by multiple sclerosis. These fortnightly sessions are designed to provide support and connection in a safe and trusting space.

Community Repair Cafe

Do you have any household items that are broken or need mending? Do you want to save money on unnecessary purchases and repair these items for free? Bring them along to the Community Repair Café at Melton Central on the last Saturday of the month and speak with one of our amazing volunteer fixers! Led and supported by Western Health and Melton City Council.
