Workshops & groups

Djerriwarrh offers a range of services, programs and free groups for socialisation, and to help connect our local community and enhance well-being and build friendships.

Each term we host a wide range of social groups, workshops and events covering many different subjects, interests and skill levels.

We also offer a school holiday program at the end of each term.

Largest Lunch

Grab a Plate at our Largest Community Lunch! This is a unique opportunity to bring our community together over a meal, and be a part of a national celebration of connection, support, and belonging!

Scavenger Hunt competition

To celebrate Neighbourhood House Week, Neighbourhood Houses in the City of Melton are hosting an exciting scavenger hunt competition! Collect a gameboard and complete the activities for your chance to win a share in $380 worth of prizes! Pick up a scavenger hunt gameboard from Djerriwarrh’s Neighbourhood House or click the link below. Complete each challenge on the gameboard before returning it to the staff at your Neighbourhood House before 4.30pm on Friday 15 May.

Vase Decorating - Acrylic Pouring workshop

Looking to unleash your inner artist? Join us for an acrylic pouring class, where you will learn how to decorate your very own vase! Choose your own vibrant colours, and creating your very own masterpiece to take home.

Punjabi Language Club for Kids

Bookings have now closed for Term 2. We are now taking Expressions of Interest for Term 3 classes.A fun and interactive workshop where children learn basic Punjabi through games, songs, and conversation. A great way to build language skills and cultural connection in a relaxed, supportive environment. Open to children aged 5 and over.

“Bhangra” - Punjabi dance classes for Kids

Bookings have now closed for Term 2. We are now taking Expressions of Interest for Term 3 classes. Get moving and have fun with Bhangra, a vibrant Punjabi folk dance full of energy and culture. This free workshop is open to children aged 5 and over and runs every Monday at the Neighbourhood House. No experience needed just bring your enthusiasm!

Monthly Carer’s Morning Tea

Carers in Melton are invited to a monthly morning tea, to connect and feel supported by other carers. This monthly event is intended for carers to take some time out for themselves, and to attend without the person they care for.

Looking for a friendly spot to chat and connect? The Chatty Café group, held at The Latin in Wallace Square, Melton – is open to all residents that may be looking for someone to share a coffee with. The Chatty Café is a great way to meet new people and be around others from your local area. Val, our lead volunteer, helps everyone feel welcome and included. Come in and have chat with a Neighbour.

GOOD THYMES GARDENING GROUP

Build new friendships and join us for plenty of laughs, as we share seeds, produce and new skills we have learnt along the way. We use the principal methods of both organic and sustainable gardening practices and have established a vegetable wicking bed system. We are a group that thrives on exchanged information, and welcome beginners and established gardeners who like to get their hands dirty.

The Women’s Support Group provides a mental health support program for local women of all ages. It is a space where women can come together to share their experiences, offer mutual support, and foster personal growth

MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS SUPPORT GROUP

A newly established peer support group for people, family and carers affected by multiple sclerosis. These fortnightly sessions are designed to provide support and connection in a safe and trusting space.

Community Repair Cafe

Do you have any household items that are broken or need mending? Do you want to save money on unnecessary purchases and repair these items for free? Bring them along to the Community Repair Café at Melton Central on the last Saturday of the month and speak with one of our amazing volunteer fixers! Led and supported by Western Health and Melton City Council.
