Djerriwarrh Community & Education Services in partnership with the Melton City Council and Victoria University is excited to announce it has been successful in securing funding for a Suburban University Study Hub in Melton. This innovative project is supported by the Australian Government through the Suburban University Study Hubs Program.
Djerriwarrh CEO Trish Heffernan said, ‘The Melton Suburban University Study Hub will address a long-standing need for greater access to higher education in our community. By providing tailored support and a dedicated space for study, the Hub will give local students the tools and environment they need to succeed in their tertiary education journey.’
Located in the heart of Melton at the Melton Library and Learning Hub, the Suburban University Study Hub will expand access to tertiary education for students in the region free of charge. Offering campus-style study spaces, on-site administrative and academic support, and a range of student services, the Hub will provide an invaluable resource for learners pursuing tertiary education from any Australian institution.

Supporting Melton Students to Thrive in Tertiary Education
The Suburban Study Hub is designed to bridge the gap for local students by offering dedicated study facilities and wrap-around support services.
These services include:
- Modern infrastructure: study spaces, video conferencing, computer facilities, and internet access.
- Administrative and academic support: assistance with writing and research skills, navigating administrative processes.
- Student well-being services: advice on study and career pathways, general well-being support including help accessing student services.
Victoria University is a supporting partner of the Suburban University Study Hub and VU’s Chief Student Officer Michelle Gillespie said, ‘Victoria University is proud to support the establishment of the Melton Suburban University Study Hub. It aligns with our commitment to working collaboratively with communities to enhance educational opportunities and we look forward to seeing the positive impact it will have on students in the region.’
