Our Commitment to Child Safety

Djerriwarrh is a Child Safe Organisation

Children and young people have the right to be safe.

Djerriwarrh has zero tolerance for child abuse, bullying, discrimination and behaviour that causes harm.

Everyone who works or volunteers with Djerriwarrh has a responsibility to help keep children and young people safe. This includes staff, volunteers, contractors, consultants and Board members.

We Welcome Everyone

We want children and young people to feel safe being themselves.

We support and welcome:

  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people
  • Children and young people from different cultures and languages
  • Children and young people with disability
  • LGBTQIA+ children and young people
  • Children and young people in care or living away from home
  • Children and young people of all faiths and backgrounds

Everyone deserves to feel safe, respected and included.

Respecting Culture and Identity

At Djerriwarrh, we celebrate diversity.

We believe children and young people are strongest when they feel proud of who they are, where they come from and what is important to them.

We do not accept racism, discrimination or exclusion.

We work to make sure our services are welcoming and inclusive for all children, young people and families.

Our Commitment to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children and Young People

We are committed to creating places where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, young people and families feel welcomed, respected and safe.

We do this by:

  • Acknowledging Country
  • Learning about Aboriginal culture and history
  • Celebrating important events such as NAIDOC Week
  • Listening to Aboriginal children, families and communities
  • Building respectful relationships with local Aboriginal organisations

Your culture, identity and voice matter.
