Djerriwarrh’s Parent Pathways program has just celebrated its first anniversary, marking a year of remarkable growth, transformation, and community connection. The team, participants, and stakeholders recently gathered for a vibrant celebration, reflecting on the journey so far and looking ahead to an even brighter future.
Since its launch, Parent Pathways has expanded rapidly, with new sites and growing teams in Barwon and Ballarat. One of the most significant achievements has been the strengthening of relationships with local stakeholders. Collaborations with Maternal and Child Health nurses, Ballarat Community Health, and the social welfare organisation Meli have enabled the program to connect families with the right resources, fostering a sense of community and support.
What Makes Parent Pathways Unique?
Parent Pathways stands out for its holistic, flexible approach. Each participant receives a tailored goal plan, ensuring support is relevant and impactful. The program’s funding also allows low-income families to access opportunities that might otherwise be out of reach, helping parents build stable, organised lives and consider future career pathways with confidence.
The program reached its ambitious target of 600 parents a month ahead of schedule, a testament to its effectiveness and appeal. The team has grown, and the launch of a television campaign has helped spread the word even further. One participant’s journey—from arriving in Australia with limited English and no recognised qualifications to gaining a driver’s license, enrolling in English classes, and securing employment—highlights the life-changing impact of the program.
The anniversary celebration was filled with laughter, creativity, and connection. Children enjoyed face painting and mask-making, families mingled, and stakeholders networked over delicious food. The event truly embodied the values of Parent Pathways: inclusivity, empowerment, and community.
As Parent Pathways enters its second year, the team is excited to continue raising awareness, supporting more families, and building new partnerships. You might spot them at community events or even your local shopping centre!
Parent Pathways is not just a program—it’s a movement, breaking cycles of disadvantage and creating lasting change for families across our community.
