Djerriwarrh Community & Education Services (Djerriwarrh) is a highly regarded not-for-profit charitable organisation which has been delivering high quality education, training, employment and youth programs in the western suburbs of Melbourne since 1989. Program:
Djerriwarrh has received funding from the Department of Home Affairs through the Innovative Projects 2026 – Increasing Flexibility and Case Management in the Adult Migrant English Program to deliver the Career Compass – your guide to work success project.
Djerriwarrh will deliver a project involving an employer-industry collaboration, focused on increasing students’ knowledge and understanding of working in high demand sectors such as aged care, disability services, childcare, health services, community services, education support, hospitality, administration and the range of employment opportunities that are available to them in their local community.
The course will be co-designed with relevant stakeholders and will also be informed by the views of a student focus group. It will be developed through January-March 2026, with the intention to commence the course in first week of March 2026. The course will run 3 days per week, for a period of 11 weeks. The course will also include workplace orientation, guest speakers and excursions.
The course will prepare students for further study or employment in industries of interest and where the number of jobs available is increasing.
Role:
The Project Coordinator will lead and oversee the project including the project team comprising of an English as an Additional Language (EAL) Teacher, Stakeholder Engagement Officer, Student Support Officer.
Skills/Qualifications:
Relevant qualifications in educational, vocational, community development or related field desirable.
