Djerriwarrh Community & Education Services (Djerriwarrh) is a highly regarded not-for-profit charitable organisation which has been delivering high quality education, training, employment and youth programs in the western suburbs of Melbourne since 1989.  Djerriwarrh’s Mission Statement is ‘empowering individuals and local communities to learn, connect and grow’.  Djerriwarrh has an inclusive, collaborative workplace culture.

Program:

Located in the heart of Melton at the Melton Library and Learning Hub, the Melton Suburban University Study Hub is designed to make tertiary education more accessible for local students – free of charge. The Hub offers campus-style study spaces, on-site academic and administrative support, and a range of student services. Open to learners enrolled in any Australian tertiary institution, the Melton Study Hub creates opportunities for students to pursue post-secondary education without the need to travel or relocate, making higher education more achievable for the Melton community.

Role:

As a University Study Hub Advisor, you’ll play a hands-on role supporting students from diverse backgrounds as they navigate the world of higher education. You’ll provide one-on-one help with enrolment processes, HECS information, assignment support, scholarship navigation, and using university systems. A key part of your role will be helping students understand the often-confusing academic language and processes of their university and supporting them to confidently communicate with their provider.

Beyond academic support, you’ll also offer general wellbeing and career guidance, connecting students to support services and community networks when needed. You’ll contribute to promoting the Melton Study Hub, strengthening relationships with local schools, council, and university partners, and ensuring our space remains welcoming, safe, and student focused. This is a collaborative and varied role where no two days will be the same.

This innovative project is supported by the Australian Government through the Suburban University Study Hubs Program.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Tertiary level qualifications related to education, training, social work, business administration, career guidance, and/or equivalent work experience.
  • Knowledge of the workings of the higher education sector would be an advantage.
