CHC30121 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care

This course will give you the knowledge, skills and experience for employment in the Childcare industry.

Course Information

Through the Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care you will be provided with opportunities to gain an understanding of child development and confidence in working with young children, from babies to five year olds.
Practical Placement

Includes 160 hours of industry placement to ensure you have the best opportunity to apply and further develop your skills in a workplace setting.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements although it is expected that students will have basic literacy and numeracy skills and moderate computer, internet and email skills. They also need to demonstrate genuine compassion and empathy towards others.

This training program includes an additional industry placement component (minimum 160 hours) and you will need to have a Working with Children Check (must be obtained by participant following acceptance into course).

Students are required to have a Unique Student Identifier (USI) to commence any accredited training in Australia. Please see staff if you need any advice on this matter.

Assessment requirements
Examples of evidence gathering techniques that will be used :

  • Written assessments
  • Performance of role plays in a simulated environment
  • Case studies
  • Portfolio – collection of documentation from each unit of competency and grouped together as a holistic assessment (This method will also validate progressive assessing of elements of competency from a variety of units or specific units of competency)
  • Group discussions
  • Trainer questions/feedback plus student feedback and questions
  • Performance and demonstration of competencies required in the workplace
  • Workplace activities and supervisor feedback
