Community Programs and Projects

Community programs and projects at our Neighbourhood House are developed to cater to the diverse and varied community of Melton.  We offer activities and events that entice physical, mental, and creative sides and abilities.   Anyone can participate wherever they feel comfortable in a supported and welcoming environment.

Community Gardens:

We are fortunate enough to have two community gardens on site at Djerriwarrh.  We grow vegetables, herbs and fruit to supplement our bi-monthly produce swaps and support food relief and sustainability practices in the area.

The gardens are lovingly propagated and harvested by the enthusiastic volunteers of the Good Thymes Garden Group.

Volunteers Wanted!

We are currently seeking more garden volunteers on Thursday mornings.  Learn about propagation, sustainable gardening and much more, all while connecting to other green thumbs and getting some nature therapy!

Produce Swaps:

Are you passionate about growing your own fruits, vegetables, herbs and seedlings? Do you have extra produce from your garden you would like to swap?

Djerriwarrh Community & Education Services invites you to our bi-monthly Produce Swap sessions at 239-241 Station Road, Melton. Bring along your excess fruits, vegetables, herbs, seeds and seedlings to swap and share with other Melton locals.

These sessions are a fantastic opportunity to connect with nature lovers and gardeners of all levels of experience. Enjoy a relaxed tea or coffee, swap gardening tips, and take home some extra fruit and vegetables with you.

2025 Produce Swap dates:

  • Thursday, 27 February
  • Thursday, 24 April
  • Thursday, 26 June
  • Thursday, 28 August
  • Thursday, 30 October
  • Thursday, 18 December

All sessions will run from 10am – 11am.
