‘Welcome to the Library’ our new adult literacy resource

Djerriwarrh has a new resource for teaching adult literacy and introducing our students to public libraries. Our new resource Welcome to the Library was launched at Melton Library on Friday 27 September. The resource consists of an adult reader and a video ‘rap’ as well as teaching resources designed for an adult learning environment. Welcome to the Library raises awareness of local libraries and encourages people to use their libraries.  It is aimed at adults with low literacy.

Welcome to the Library has a been a collaboration, between the City of Melton Library and Djerriwarrh. The project was made possible by a grant from the Victorian Public Library Services as a part of the Adult Literacy Innovation Program.

The reader reader helps community members with literacy needs to understand and use a local library. It will be available to borrow at Melton libraries and can be used by any other library.

Congratulations to the Djerriwarrh staff and students who created the resource and are featured in the reader and in the video.
